1. List your priorities for the puppy with respect to: Family dog, Hunting dog, Competition dog.


2. Will your dog be an indoor dog (living in the house with your family) or an outdoor dog (kennel or garage)?

3. How often will you be able to exercise your dog off leash? On lead?


4. Do you have any young children (kids or grandkids) or will your dog interact with children on walks or at the park?

5. Do you want a more dominant, alpha personality, a more submissive personality, or a middle of the pack personality? (Answers to other questions should help address this one)

6. How often, realistically, do you plan to hunt the dog? (I know we all would like to hunt more! 😊)

7. Do you plan on running any hunt tests, field trials, or other competitions with dog? (e.g., agility course, dock jumping, BDC, HRC, AKC, APLA, etc)

8. Are you planning on breeding your dog if a female or using as a stud if a male?

9. If everything between two pups is equal temperament wise; Do you have a color preference? (lighter color yellow vs. darker yellow (red)?

10. If everything between two pups is equal temperament wise; Do you have a body size preference? (small, medium, large)
